Presidential Qualifications Amendment*

The United States Constitution, Article II, section 1, §5 reads:
"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."
  1.  Amend the United States Constitution, Article II, Section 1, §5, as follows.

    1. Add the following text:

"Nor shall any person be eligible to that office, or to the office of Vice President, who shall not have successfully served a full term in the senate, three full terms in the house, one full term as governor of a state, or six full years of active duty in the United States Military. Nor shall any person be eligible to serve either office who shall have ever been convicted of a felony."

    2. As this provision has served its purpose, and no one can meet this criteria now or in the future, remove the following text:

", or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution,"

  2. Article II, section 1,§ Will then read:
"No Person except a natural born Citizen shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States. Nor shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have successfully served a full term in the senate, three full terms in the house, one full term as governor of a state, or six full years of active duty in the United States Military. Nor shall any person be eligible to serve that office who shall have ever been convicted of a felony."
  3. This amendment shall take effect after two terms of the presidency have past following ratification by the requisite number of states.
