Taxes for Infrastructure, etc.
1932-2009

For a century the Plutocrats and Conservative Republicans have systematically worked at giving the rights of individuals to corporations and other organizations, a most recent example being the Americans United decision. Prior to that was the right of free speech. Betwixt was allowing "freedom of religion" to override anti-discrimination laws. Using "the right of free speech" we have been flooded with the propaganda designed to spread and convince voters to support the false "trickle-down" economic theories that magnified income and wealth inequity for nearly half a century.

  • Inequity between the haves and the have-nots stagnated buying power ever since Ronald Reagan cut taxes way down from 70%.
  • 1932-1981 was 50 years with an average top tax rate of 83.5%.
  • Then Ronald Reagan and the Republicans came to power.
  • 1982-2008 was 27 years with an average top tax rate of 37%.
  • That amounts to 27 years (plus another 7 since) of embezzling 43.5% of infrastructure and services from the total US commonwealth by the ultra rich people and corporations.

1932-1981 rebuilt our infrastructure, taking us out of the Great Depression, paid for the second World War, the Marshal Plan to rebuild Europe, the Korean War, The Space Race, and the Moon Landings.
In 1980 Reagan instituted trickle-down economics, cutting taxes from 70% to 50%. 5 years in a recession brought on by lowered taxes.

And now the Republicans are trying to enact huge tax cuts for the wealthy by repealing the ACA camouflaged as the AHCA, which will knock 23 million off healthcare and restore prior conditions exclusions to benefit insurance companies, and they are planning to do it in secret! - without Democrats and without hearings!
